A workshop identifying common difficulties in Pilates and how to fix them!
We will work through some of the basics of the Pilates Mat repertoire, moving through all planes of motion of the spine – forward bending, arching, side bending and rotation.
In 8 years of teaching Pilates, I have come across some very common issues people complain about, like neck pain, pain in twisting, inability to sit upright, inability to comfortably lift the arms over head etc.
Often it takes a long time to improve these issues by only doing Pilates and most people fall off the wagon before that happens!
Somatic Movements and Thomas Hanna’s method of Pandiculation focuses on regaining full control over developmental movement patterns and make your Pilates class experience more enjoyable and successful.
I will introduce you to movements that will improve your ‘base layer’ of moving and how they apply to the Pilates repertoire. You can use this knowledge and new found awareness in your regular class or as a stand alone home practice.
