Teaching journey: Limerick

I’ll be back at my old stomping grounds tomorrow – at University of Limerick’s MA Contemporary Dance Performance. This program brought be to Ireland in 2009 when I needed to explore my dancing beyond teaching technique.

Now I’m back to teach Somatic Movement to the new group of dancers who committed themselves to a year of expanding and dissecting their understanding of dance. The course always had somatic learning included in the curriculum through authentic movement and other somatic practices. Hanna Somatics however is new and different, giving the dancers a sustainable self-care practice rather than exploring authenticity as a mode of performance.

I am really looking forward to working with the students and hope they will get some useful enhancements to their daily practice.
